Mesilla Park

Las Cruces is a city of neighborhoods, each one different from the other. I happen to live in Mesilla Park, a neighborhood of SW Las Cruces. It is full of families, professionals, local celebrities (more on that later), and increasingly more and more younger creatives types are moving in. Mikey's Place for the Arts, a venue for all kinds of creative arts, is located at Conway and Harrelson. They host the SumArt Festivals each year, and host a number of live music concerts, dance, painting, even fire dancing. Over the past few years that I have lived here a few other venues have opened in the warehouses across the street from Mikey's, increasing the artistic vibe. The Mesilla Park Community Center and park ( 304 Bell Ave.) sits in the center of the community and has several classes like yoga and Tai Chi, and offers afterschool programs for kids. The park is a meeting place for the community, especially for the dogs and dog lovers of the neighborhood. The streets of Mesilla Park are lined with huge old trees, Conway Ave is shady all day and perfect for jogging, walking and bike riding. Mesilla Park is criss-crossed by many canals and ditches that offer even more recreation opportunities. All in all Mesilla Park is one of the cool neighborhoods that make up Las Cruces, visit us and you'll see why.
